I was reading one of my favorite blogs, The Church of No People, and Matt, who is the author over there mentioned about having a 'life verse'. I personally never heard that terminology, but it has something to with a verse in the scriptures that has either changed your life or you base your life around.
Well, I thought to myself about that and the verse which immediately comes to mind for me is, Psalms 34:1-4. These verses are my testimony.
I'm sure Matt wouldn't mind me borrowing from him in asking these questions:
What is your verse or verses? How was your life changed from it?

One thing I ask of the LORD
This is what I seek
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD
All the days of my life
To gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
And to seek Him in his temple
Just one?
hmmmm.
have to think about that one.
From long ago, the Lord appeared to me; "With everlasting love have I loved you; therefore have I drawn you to Me with loving-kindness." Jer. 31:2 (Jer 31:3 in Christian bibles)
I.H.S...yours is so perfect for you; I can see that in everything you write/say.
Mine is Matthew 6:25-27-"Do Not Worry"... The first time it was given to me (in a MAJOR way) was life changing because I was at my most worried; that worry stopped...and that promise has followed me through times like when I was worried and happened to walk thru a friend's breakfast room and read a framed needlepoint of that verse!! or a friend who doesn't know how much these verses mean to me hearing my prayer request at Bible study and saying "Z, don't forget...even the birds.." as if she KNEW!
And, there are more ways, huge ways, this verse has been given to me; reminded, reminded..last Thursday there was a man at the bluffs overlooking the ocean where I'd felt I just HAD to go and I obeyed; I looked up and there was a man who brought St. Francis of Assisi come to mind. HOLDING PIGEONS in his HANDS..caressing their chests in his hands, STROKING their heads and their standing still for that!!?...he'd give them seeds in his hand and hold his hand way up and they'd fly there and eat and stand and get petted..it was absolutely an amazing sight.."Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them" Matthew 6:25 illustrated!!
He is patient! And he is ABUNDANT and KIND and THROWS us the biggest richest pearls when our eyes are open to them! (and the richest friends when we most need them) And I AM LEARNING. xx
'judge not lest ye be judged'
Sue, I think Western society could go a lot farther again if we started judging justly again. If we had a litmus test, like the 10 commandments and all those 'old fashioned' things we used to admire like no promiscuity, no abortion, paying your bills, no gossiping, etc...those things I think would be well to judge.
